You can choose the apropriate size and type of doormat depending on the room it is in front of. Mats that are sized 0.6 x 0.9 m. are just not enough for big stores and office buildings, because all the clients will tend to leap across them. The mat should offer at least three steps on it for the client in order to be effective.
If you have enough space the best option is to make a system of three types of mats in three different zones:
• Zone 1 – against rough contamination (outer or covered entrance zones). The models Jupiter and Uranus by Andac or Diplomat and Marschall by the German manufacturer Emco are suitable at this point. The combination of brushes and rubbers effectively removes the dust, dirt and little rocks that are stuck to the sole of the shoe. They fall between the casettes and do not stay on the surface so the next visitor cannot disperse them. The aluminum ribs or single brushes additionally help in removing the stubborn dirt.
• Zone 2 – against fine dirt (inner or covered entrance zones). The suitable choice is a doormat made of aluminum profiles with soft filling and with scrapers.
• Zone 3 – against moisture (inner zones). For this zone you can use carpet doormats by Emco and Andac. They effectively take up moisture from the soles of the shoes.
