The fact that we have already seen a particular flooring somewhere before should not make us think that it will suit us too. In the following lines we will outline the pros and cons of every type of flooring in order to get more familiar with them. We will also take into account the characteristics of some floorings that are not listed in our catalogue, but could me found on the market.
We can point out the following types of floorings suitable for office and administrative buildings:
1. Laminate.
Advantages:
- easy installation
- comparatively low price
Disadvantages:
- the cheap low quality laminates have a low wear resistance, which leads to a more frequent flooring changes
- noisy
- slippery
This flooring is suitable for slightly loaded rooms. There is a great variety of flooring priced form 6.5 to more than 80 lv.
2. Three layer parquets.
Advantages:
- natural wood
- give the room a luxurious feeling
Disadvantages:
- suitable for luxurious offices and conference rooms i.e. rooms subjected to a slight load
- noisy
- requires maintenance
As stated above, they are suitable for luxurious offices and conference rooms. The prices vary between 20 lv and 400 euro.
3. Vinyl floorings.
Advantages:
- high wear resistance
- sound obstructing properties
- easy cleaning and maintenance
- it is possible to combine different colours and even make your own individual design
- the upper polyurethane layer protects the flooring against wear, damage and scratches
- the joints are welded, do they will not gather dirt
Disadvantages:
- requires even and flat base
- entirely artificial product
The vinyl floorings are suitable for office rooms, doorways, foyers, receptions as well as stairways - slightly, moderately or heavily loaded rooms. There are vinyl floorings for home use and for commercial use, so be aware to make the difference.
4. Linoleum.
Advantages:
- entirely natural and ecological product
- high wear resistance
- sound obstructing properties
- easy cleaning and maintenance
- the linseed oil used in the flooring is a natural antiseptic
- the flooring comes sealed from the factory, which eliminates the need of applying it after installation
- very rich colour palette, it is possible to combine different colours and even make your own individual design
- the joints are welded, do they will not gather dirt
Disadvantages:
- requires even and flat base
- requires periodical thorough cleaning and application of a sealing agent
The linoleum, as the vinyl floorings, is suitable for almost all rooms in the office buildings. Its price, however, is a little higher, but you have flooring entirely made of natural products.
5. Ceramic tiles.
Advantages:
- wear resistant
- easy cleaning
Disadvantages:
- noisy and extremely slippery
- dirt is separated from the joints. The joints get dirty and collect dirt.
- cold flooring
There is a great variety of ceramic tiles. The prices vary depending on the quality and the manufacturer. They can be placed in doorways and foyers, but the noise from the steps is horrible.
