Artoleum is a linoleum floor covering, made from all natural and renewable raw materials including linseed oil, rosin, limestone, wood flour, jute and pigments. In a state-of-the-art production process, these ingredients are mixed, calendared and dried into a unique flooring suitable for a huge variety of applications in both working and living environments.
The colours and designs incorporated into Artoleum are echoes from the natural world from which they are made. In close-up, some patterns may not immediately call to mind the materials on which they are based, but when viewed from a distance Artoleum is typically described as harmonious and organic.
The 2007 Artoleum range comprises three distinct designs:
Artoleum prisma is inspired by the light separating properties of the prism and consists of two shimmering families of patterns.
Artoleum mineral draws its inspiration from the variety and richness of natural stone types in a spectacularly wide spectrum of shades and hues.
Artoleum graphic is a classic range concentrating on blacks, whites and greys, conceived in the artistic traditions of Rembrandt etchings and Escher lithographs.
The entire Artoleum range is designed to turn offices into inspiring working environments, to transform shops or restaurants into conceptually integrated styling exercises, to bring colour and durability to schools and public buildings. Artoleum provides timelessly versatile flooring as a perfect base for the dynamic requirements of exhibitions, design interiors, showrooms and art galleries. The colours and structures of the Artoleum range are balanced with, and combine very well with, the extensive Marmoleum collection that Forbo offers worldwide.
All Artoleum floors have Forbo´s exclusive Topshield finish, a two-layer finish. Topshield is extremely tough and can handle almost everything that intensive daily use may inflict on flooring. Topshield offers unique and superior dirt protection, design sharpness and a matt finish, as evidenced by independent testing carried out by the renowned flooring technology research institute WFK. In their tests, Topshield significantly outperformed all other common resilient flooring materials tested.
Artoleum provides pleasant underfoot warmth, high sound absorption, electrostatic properties, considerable scorch and spill resistance, excellent dirt hiding properties, bacteriostatic permanence and no colour fading, ensuring a long working life. In addition, Artoleum is very easy to maintain, clean and dry, and most common forms of flooring damage can easily be repaired.
